MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO EAST STROUDSBURG IN SEASON FINALE, 4-1
October 20, 2007 East Stroudsburg, Pa. – Forward Monica Gombita scored two goals to lead the East Stroudsburg University women’s field hockey team past visiting Millersville Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
Gombita scored the first goal of the afternoon off a pass from teammate Sarah Cordora, the first of two assists for her, 7:52 into the contest.
The Warriors would add two more goals before the half to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
Millersville forward Jaclyn Kulesza (sr. Oxford/Oxford) netted a shot early in the second half (40:38) to cut the Warrior lead to two (3-1). However, Gombita came back in the 60th minute with her second goal to seal the win for East Stroudsburg.
Millersville kept the heat on East Stroudsburg goalies Jennifer Mullen and Megan Cappuccino, firing 10 shots at the two keepers. The two goalies finished with a combined nine saves.
The win moves East Stroudsburg to 9-10 on the season. The loss finishes Millersville’s season with a 4-14 (2-12 PSAC) record.
