MANSFIELD UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S SOCCER SHUTS DOWN MILLERSVILLE, 1-0
October 24, 2007 Mansfield, Pa. – The Millersville University women’s soccer team attempted to record their seventh shutout of the season, but it was not to be as Forward Lyndi Keiser scored a goal with just over six minutes to play as the Warriors went on to defeat Millersville, 1-0, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Wednesday afternoon.
With the scored tied at 0-0, Keiser received a pass from teammate Anita Valerio and turned it into a goal at the 83:54 mark to secure the win for the Warriors. The goal was her team-leading fifth of the season.
In her final game in a Marauder uniform, goalie Karrine Riggins (sr. Millersville/Penn Manor) made four saves. The First Team All-Conference selection from a year ago finishes the season with 99 saves to go along with six shutouts.
In the strictly defensive-minded contest, both teams managed just five shots. Millersville held the advantage in corner kicks (6-1), but could not convert.
The win improves Mansfield to 2-12-2 (2-7-1 PSAC East) with one game remaining. The loss finishes Millersville’s season at 4-12-3 (1-8-3 PSAC East) overall.
