 Head Women's Lacrosse Coach
E-Mail Coach Waltman

Barbara Waltman is one of the most successful coaches in intercollegiate women's lacrosse and has established a championship-caliber program at Millersville University.

Waltman is entering her 29th season as the Marauders’ head coach and is four wins away from notching her 200th victory. Her career record is 196-180-3 (.517).

Waltman has guided the Marauders to 14 playoff appearances, including the 1982 run that led to the AIAW Division III National Championship, which remains the university’s only national title for women’s athletics.

She is a three-time winner of the Brine/TWLCA Division II Coach of the Year Award and has twice been named PSAC Coach of the Year (1989 and 1991).

In 1992, MU made its first appearance in the ECAC Division II championship match; and in 1997 the Marauders captured their first ECAC-II title, 15-12, over Gannon.

Waltman’s Marauders won three consecutive PSAC championships from 1988 to 1990 and made the playoffs in eight consecutive seasons from 1986 to 1993. The 1989 and 1990 squads put together back-to-back unbeaten records against league opposition.

Waltman is a 1973 alumna of Millersville and has a B.S. in elementary education. She was a four-year starter and letter-winner at attack wing for the MU lacrosse team under coach Marjorie Trout. Waltman captained the 1973 Marauder team that posted a 6-1 mark. She also lettered in basketball and was chosen as the University's outstanding senior athlete.

Previously, Waltman served as an assistant volleyball coach for 10 seasons (1992-2001) and was head coach of the Marauder women's tennis program from 1985 to 1991.
