What does an instructional designer do?
Official Job Description: Instructional Designer:
Work with faculty and other technical staff to develop innovative and effective instructional technology applications for traditional, distributed, and distance learning environments; to develop creative and instructionally-effective presentations, assignments, and interactive materials that are consistent with the educational goals and objectives of each course; to define content specialists on curriculum transformation projects for distance education, online distributed education and on-campus courses.
Support programs and services of the Center for Academic Excellence, including integration of technology into teaching and learning, the faculty peer-mentoring program, development and presentation of faculty workshops; and assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of innovative instructional methods, and assist in assessment of the effectiveness of these applications. Assume responsibilities for working with faculty on the pedagogical issues and characteristics of instructional projects.
