Steinman Communications Scholarship
The Steinman Communications Scholarship program exists to promote
participation by qualified Millersville University students in
campus communications activities and to recognize exceptional
performance.
Eligibility
Millersville University full time undergraduates in good academic
standing who have completed at least 15 credits (second semester
freshman) and will continue their participation in campus communications
activities throughout the semester following the application date,
may apply for a Steinman Communications Scholarship. All monies
awarded will be applied to the student's account for the next
semester if the student:
Remains in good academic standing (2.0 QPA min.)
Enrolls as a full-time student at Millersville University.
The scholarships will be awarded to students who have made outstanding
contributions to campus communications and indicate their intentions
to continue to serve in a capacity that will advance campus communications.
Work produced for student wages or for off-campus corganizations
is NOT eligible for consideration.
Amount of Award
The scholarships will range from $50 to $500 per year. Students
may receive a maximum of four such awards. The selection of scholarship
recipients occurs near the middle of spring semester. Students
recieve the award in the form of a check. The number of scholarships
given each semester and/or the dollar value will be contingent
upon the availability of funds.
Definition of Campus Communications
Campus communications may include, but are not limited to the
student newspaper, the yearbook, the campus radio station, alumni
publications, newsletters, magazines or other publications published
by the student body or by the University for an internal or external
audience, or audiovisual presentations, photographs, or videotapes
used to communicate to internal or external audiences. In making
its awards, the Committee emphasizes excellence in news reporting,
whether print or electronic, and leadership of communication organizations.
Deadlines
Applications must be completed by early March (date to be announced).
Student recipients, the Financial Aid Office, and the Business
Office will be notified prior to the end of the Spring.
