Publishers and Copyright Policies That
Allow
Free Fair Use Photocopying
for Classroom Teachers and Libraries
- American College Personnel Association (ACPA)
Unlimited use for libraries and teachers with no fee for use.
- American Counseling Association (ACA)
Unlimited use for libraries and teachers with no fee for use.
- American Psychological Association (APA)
No fee for journal articles for nonprofit classroom or library use by
instructor and educational institutions. This is limited to five (5)
copies for an APA Journal or for five (5) articles from one journal.
- American School Counselor Association (ASCA)
Unlimited use for libraries, researchers, and teachers with no fee for
use.
- Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
Up to 100 copies may be reproduced for nonprofit distribution.
- National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC)
Twenty (20) or so copies may be made for personal, library reserve, or
classroom use with no fee or permission needed.
- National Career Development Association (NCDA)
Free to reproduce fewer than 500 words. [Approximately one (1) page]
- National Communication Association (NCA)
Copies of material in NCA journals and books may be made for scholarly or
classroom use if:
- the material is distributed without charges above the cost of
photocopying, the cost of releases, and the cost of packaging or binding;
- there will be no markup or expectation of profit on material copies;
- the materials are reproductions, photocopies or copies made by similar
processes and not reprints or republications;
- copies are used within nine (9) months after reproduction;
- the material incudes the full bibliographic citations; and
- the following statement be clearly displayed on all copies: "Copyright
by the National Communication Association. Reproduced by permission of the
publisher.' A copy of this statement serves as the National Communication
Association's official permission for using material for scholarly or
education purposes under the above conditions.
