Benefiting students and enhancing programs through gift support help keep a Millersville University education student focused. At the same time, many of our students' educational experiences benefit the community. Currently:

We're helping to develop a system to provide timely warnings of severe weather events. MU, through the meteorology program, is one of eight schools in the nation working with scientists and engineers through a National Science Foundation grant on predicting high-impact local weather, like thunderstorms, squall lines, and lake-effect snows.

We're working to reduce smoking among college students. Students Working Against Tobacco - SWAT -- is a peer-to-peer program providing leadership scholarships to students.

We're evaluating the effectiveness of new judicial approaches to drug cases. Faculty in the sociology department are reviewing the Adult Drug Court in Lancaster County's Court of Common Pleas.

We're exploring the world on the molecular level. Scientists in MU's chemistry department are working on manufacturing technologies that fabricate precision measurement and sensing tools that will impact biomedical research involving cancer and diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis.

We're preparing students to become stock market wizards. The Center for Economic Education trains area elementary, middle, and high school teachers to lead stock market simulations with their students, buying and selling stocks using real companies and real stock market prices.
