Student benefiting from giving

Benefiting Students, Enhancing Programs

Gift support better enables Millersville University to educate students who become active citizens and leaders of our commonwealth and the world. Gifts to the university make a remarkable difference in the lives of our students. It's all about equipping them with the intellectual tools - decision making, critical thinking, communication skills - to succeed in an increasingly complex world.

With your help, Millerville University is able to aim higher, achieve more and provide students an opportunity for an education second to none. Learn more about some of the ways we do this.

Tax Deductions

Millersville University and the Millersville University Foundation are both 501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations. Consequently, the type and structure of your gift to Millersville University may provide you with a charitable income tax deduction. Please reference the specific Types of Gifts for information. Contact your tax professional on how types of giving will affect your personal tax situation.

Income through time

Certain gifts can provide income for the donor now and a benefit to Millersville University’s students and programs later. When assets are not readily liquid, or if you desire income for life or a specified number of years, some planned giving tools will work well for you. Setting up a charitable gift annuity or one of several types of charitable remainder trusts may provide you a tax advantage and steady income at a favorable rate compared to conventional investments. To learn more about ways to give that will result in income through time, visit Kinds of Gifts.

Naming Opportunities

Building facilities and establishing endowments provide opportunities to recognize those whose leadership gifts support priorities at Millersville University. In many cases named classrooms, labs, buildings, endowments or scholarships honor the life or memory of a loved one.

Naming opportunities for capital projects
New or significantly renovated facilities offer naming opportunities for gifts valued at approximately half of the total cost of the project. Sites within new construction or renovated buildings, such as classrooms, labs and wings, can also be named. Costs associated with these opportunities are usually detailed within the project itself. Learn more about capital campaigns.

Naming opportunities for endowments and/or scholarships
A threshold of $25,000 is needed to endow a fund for any purpose including equipment, scholarships etc., and name the fund in honor or memory of a loved one.

Named scholarships that are not endowed must be funded annually to continue to serve the financial needs of students based on specific criteria. Learn more about endowments.
