Glossary Terms
Agriculture-the science, art, or occupation concerned with cultivating land, raising crops, and feeding, breeding, and raising livestock; farming.
Biodegradable- capable of decaying through the action of living organisms
Composted- a mixture of various decaying organic substances, as dead leaves or manure, used for fertilizing soil
Florescent bulbs- energy saving light bulbs
Hazardous Waste- any industrial by-product, esp. from the manufacture of chemicals, that is destructive to the environment or dangerous to the health of people or animals
Inorganic- involving neither organic life nor the products of organic life.
Organic- a substance, as a fertilizer or pesticide, of animal or vegetable origin.
Pacifists- a person who believes in pacifism or is opposed to war or to violence of any kind.
Pesticides- a chemical preparation for destroying plant, fungal, or animal pests.
Pollution- the introduction of harmful substances or products into the environment
Recycling- to treat or process (used or waste materials) so as to make suitable for reuse
Scrap Metal- discarded metal suitable for reprocessing Sustainability- living in a way that preserves our environment |
