Earning an Undergraduate Degree
To earn an undergraduate degree at Millersville University, a student must meet the following requirements:
  1. All curricular and proficiency requirements as described must be met.

  2. A minimum of 120 credits must be completed for a bachelor’s degree.

  3. A GPA of at least 3.0 must be earned in Millersville courses.

  4. A GPA of at least 3.0 must be earned in Millersville courses required for the major (area of concentration for associate degrees).

  5. A GPA of at least 2.0 must be earned in Millersville courses required for the minor.

  6. At least 30 credits must be completed at Millersville (in addition to student teaching), with the exception of transfer students from two-year colleges, whose required 60 semester hours at Millersville may include student teaching.

  7. At least half the major requirements must be completed at Millersville.

  8. At least half of the minor requirements must be completed at Millersville.

  9. For students in a B.S.Ed. degree program: The professional education courses required for a secondary degree major are: EDFN 211, 241 and 330; EDSE 321, 461; and the following: MATH 315 for Math majors, ENGL 485 and 487 for English majors, EDSE 435 for Science majors, EDSE 433 for Social Studies majors, FORL 480 for Foreign Language majors.

  10. The professional education courses required for a K-12 B.S.Ed. degree are: EDFN 211, 241 and 330; and the following: EDAR 461 for Art majors, EDMU 461 for Music majors, EDTE 461 for Technology Education majors.

  11. Students who graduate with a B.S.Ed. degree or complete an approved program of post-baccalaureate studies for teaching certification must take a battery of tests in basic skills, general knowledge, professional knowledge, and knowledge of subjects in which they seek certification. These tests are mandated by Pennsylvania’s State Board of Education and must be passed in order to qualify for an Instructional I Professional Personnel Certificate.

  12. An Application for Degree form should be submitted before the end of the add period of the term in which the student expects to graduate. The University confers degrees six times annually–at the conclusion of the fall semester, winter session, spring semester, pre-summer session, first summer session and second summer session. Application forms are available from the registrar’s office, Lyle Hall.
