Dr. Shanahan joined the geography faculty in the fall of 1994. His undergraduate work was completed at the University of London, UK. Graduate work at the University of Minnesota consisted of a specialization in social and cultural geography. Dr. Shanahan has published on issues related to ethnic segregation, gender and geography and is currently researching the geography of ethnicity in late Victorian London. Dr. Shanahan is assistant editor of the international peer reviewed journal Food and Foodways. He teaches courses in political and cultural geography and offeres a summer field trip to London, England.
