MU forms partnership with Puerto Rico school - 04/24/2006
Tim Lambert (Millersville) -- A midstate college is working to better serve the needs of the Latino community in the region. Millersville University in Lancaster County has entered into a new partnership with the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. Kirsten Bookmiller, director of international affairs at Millersville, says this is an important community initiative, especially with a growing Spanish-speaking population in cities like Lancaster and Reading.
Bookmiller says 25 teachers from across central PA will travel to Puerto Rico for two weeks in July to take part in a cultural immersion program. A delegation from the University of Puerto Rico is visiting Millersville through Wednesday.
