Internships
A limited number of part-time and full-time internships are available in conjunction with the study abroad experience. Opportunities include working with members of Parliament, advertising and promotional companies, finance and marketing houses, museums, health agencies and schools. Recent students have interned with a member of Prime Minister Blair's Cabinet and the Conservative Party Central Office as well as with the British retailer Marks & Spencer. Students should indicate interest in an internship on their application and be aware that a separate review process and set of fees are associated with the internship program after the student is accepted into the study abroad component.
Cost
Students pay MU tuition (in-state or out-of-state depending on residency) and mandatory MU Technology fee, London Met program charge and accommodation fee directly to Millersville. There is also a $40 application fee and a non-refundable, non-transferable $400.00 MU program participation fee paid directly to Millersville at the time of application.
The London Met program charge includes orientation, transfer from Heathrow airport to central London (students are responsible for their return to the airport at the conclusion of the program), a tour of London and an evening at a West End Theater, cultural activities, overseas tuition differential and program administration costs. This fee does NOT include meals, passport, airfare, books and supplies or incidental expenses such as personal travel, clothing, laundry or entertainment.

Financial Assistance
Students should investigate loans that may be available such as the application for Federal Student Aid. Scholarships have individual regulations, and students should contact their home institution's Financial Aid Office to determine if their scholarship is transferable. Please see Financial Considerations for more information.
Dates
Students may study at London Metropolitan University for one semester or a full academic year. The fall semester begins in the middle of September and concludes in mid December. The spring semester begins in February and ends late May/early June.
Accommodation
Accommodations for students participating in MU's Capital Semester in London Program are a part of a student community called "Nido". Conveniently located near King's Cross underground train station (and a short underground ride to the London Metropolitan campus) these stylish, contemporary and secure (24/7 security) accommodations offer their own cafe, fitness centre and movie screening room-- in addition to numerous study zones -- on the premises. Rooms are double occupancy with bathrooms and a kitchen/dining area shared with surrounding rooms. The kitchen has full appliances and plates/pans/silverware are provided. Students also have free internet access and VOIP system.
Meals
Students are responsible for their own meals. Meals, including options for vegetarians, are available from snack bars and cafes located in each of the University's main buildings. Each of the main sites also has a bar serving competitively priced food and drink. In addition, the city of London is filled with thousands of restaurants, supermarkets, and shops to meet every taste.
Eligibility
Most students who study abroad have traditionally been juniors. Participants in the Capital Semester in London Program can study abroad any time after they have completed their first 24 credits. To participate, Millersville University requires a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher, both at the time of application and for all coursework taken prior to departure. Students also must consult their home institution's study abroad eligibility criteria to determine if they are eligible. While study abroad slots are not limited in the London Met program, students must still be approved through an application process in order to participate. The Director of Global Education and Partnerships will review applications, and a selection will be made shortly thereafter.
Transfer of Credit
Students should work with their advisors to select courses that will fit into their major and General Education Requirements. A request for Study Abroad Resident Credits form, available through the Office of Global Education and Partnerships, must be completed before the student leaves. After the study abroad program is completed and a transcript is sent to Millersville University, the Registrar's office determines the final transfer of credit. All courses taken at London Met will come back to Millersville as tranfer courses, as if you had taken them at another U.S. institutiton. Please consult the Undergraduate Catalog ("Transfer Credits") for the transfer policy.
