Internships
A limited number of part-time internships are available in conjunction with the study abroad experience. Opportunities are available for most majors. Students should indicate interest in an internship on their application and be aware that a separate review process and set of fees are associated with the internship after the student is accepted into the study abroad component of the program.
Cost
Students pay MU tuition (in-state or out-of-state depending on residency), the mandatory MU technology fee and a USC program charge directly to Millersville. There is an additional non-refundable, non-transferable $400.00 MU program participation fee paid directly to Millersville with the $40 application fee, due at time of application. Students pay separately for accommodations directly to UniCentral.
The above costs do not include meals, passport, the Australian visa, airfare, airport transportation, books and supplies and incidental expenses such as clothing, personal travel or entertainment.
Below is an estimated worksheet of costs for the spring 2010 semester at the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Financial Assistance
Students should investigate loans that may be available such as the application for
Federal Student Aid. Scholarships have individual regulations, and students should contact the Financial Aid Office to determine if their scholarship is transferable. Another option is to research scholarships online or stop by our office for additional opportunities.
Dates
Students may study at the University of the Sunshine Coast for one semester or a full academic year. The USC academic year begins in March and ends in December of the same year. Semester 1 begins in mid-February and concludes in late June. Semester 2 begins in mid-July and ends in late November. Before classes begin students will have a one-week orientation program.
Accommodation
MU students will stay at UniCentral Student Accommodations (www.unicentral.net.au). UniCentral is a secure complex with excellent facilities. Students live in spacious apartments offering four large lockable bedrooms, large study area, two built-in wardrobes, private telephone and internet connection (additional charges for usage) and free intranet service to the University. The shared areas of each apartment include laundry facilities, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and dining area, and outdoor furniture in either a balcony or courtyard setting. The complex includes a 25-meter lap pool, floodlit tennis/basketball court, recreation pavilion, game room and central barbeque area.
Meals
Students are responsible for their own meals. Meals are available from snack bars and cafes located around the university. The towns on the Sunshine Coast are filled with restaurants, supermarkets, and shops to meet every taste and dietary need.
Eligibility
Most students who study abroad have traditionally been juniors. Participants can study abroad any time after they have completed their first 24 credits. To participate, students are required to have a 2.5 G.P.A. or higher, both at the time of application and for all coursework taken prior to departure. A limited number of participants are accepted for this program each year and selection is competitive. Students must complete the USC Study Abroad application. The Director of Global Education and Partnerships will review applications, and a selection will be made shortly thereafter.
Transfer of Credit
Students should work with their advisors to select courses that will fit into their major and General Education Requirements. A request for Study Abroad Resident Credits form, available through the Office of Global Education and Partnerships, must be completed before the student leaves. After the study abroad program is completed and a transcript is sent to Millersville University, the Registrar's Office determines the final transfer of credit. All courses taken at USC will come back to Millersville as transfer courses, as if you had taken them at another U.S. institution. Please consult the Undergraduate Catalog (“Transfer Credits”) for the transfer policy.
