Library Advisory Committee

The library advisory committee serves as an advisory body on matters related to the University library.

  1. Membership

    1. the committee is composed of: one faculty representative elected by and from each of the academic units for overlapping two-year terms; one non-school, non-library faculty member elected for a two-year term by the non-school faculty members in an election conducted by the associate vice president for academic affairs; one graduate student elected for a one-year term by the graduate students' organization; one undergraduate student elected for a one-year term by the Student Senate; and the chairperson or designee of the library department and the director of library services.

    2. the chairperson of the committee is appointed by the provost from the elected faculty for a one-year term.

  2. Functions

    1. the committee serves as an advisory body to the academic community on such matters as long range goals and objectives for library, facilities, technological development, and fiscal planning.

    2. the committee formulates and channels written recommendations for consideration through the director of library services and library department chairperson to the deans' council, provost and vice president for academic affairs, and the president.

  3. Modification

    Modification of this committee may be made by the University administration.
