Undergraduate Degree Programs

Associate Degree Programs
The University's associate degree programs are primarily career oriented, with specific occupational objectives in mind. Students may be admitted to programs leading to an Associate of Arts, or Associate of Science degree, or such other title as appro ved.

An associate degree will not be awarded to a student who is progressing toward a baccalaureate degree in the same academic discipline. A student who holds a baccalaureate degree will not be awarded an associate degree in the same discipline.

  1. Admission: Admission standards applicable to baccalaureate programs will also be applicable to the associate degrees. Any special departmental or program admission requirements must be approved by the Faculty Senate.
  2. Proficiencies: Standards of minimum proficiencies established for bachelor's degree students will be applicable to associate degree students.
  3. Probation: Existing standards for probation will also be applicable to students in the associate degree programs.

  5. To earn an associate degree the student must meet the following requirements:

    1. Complete the general education requirement.
    2. Earn at least 60-64 semester hours of credit with a Millersville cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
    3. Complete a major field of study with a Millersville grade point average of 2.0.
    4. Satisfy the minimum residence requirement of one year, including 30 semester hours of coursework.
    5. Complete 50% of major at Millersville.
  6. Departments that submit degree programs should designate which associate degree applies to the proposed program. All programs must contain a rationale, must demonstrate a need, and must follow all standard University approval procedures. Program proposals should follow the State System of Higher Education Program Approval Policy statement.
