Governance Manual
The University confers degrees six times annually - at the conclusion of the fall semester, winter session, spring semester, pre-summer session, first summer session and second summer session.
Formal commencement exercises are held in December and May of each year. Undergraduate degree candidates (fall graduates) and graduate degree candidates (summer sessions and fall graduates) may only attend the December ceremony while undergraduate degree candidates (winter, spring, and summer sessions graduates) and graduate degree candidates (winter and spring graduates) may only attend the May ceremony.
Students must initiate an application for degree to be considered a candidate for graduation. Applications for degree are available in the Office of the Registrar and must be signed by the academic advisor and the department chairperson. Application
deadlines are published in the academic calendar.
