Section 2: Undergraduate Academic Programs

Second Degree

A student may earn a second degree--associate or baccalaureate--by meeting the following stipulations:

  1. A minimum of 30 additional semester hours must be completed at the undergraduate level, in residence, following the award of the first degree. These credits must be in the major and required related fields.

  2. All departmental and related study requirements must be satisfied.

  3. Coursework completed as part of the first degree program may be used to satisfy the related studies requirement in the second degree.

  4. Coursework completed as part of the first degree program may also be used to satisfy up to 50% of the major in the second degree. If a given course required in the major field of the second degree program was completed as part of the first degree program, it may not be repeated.

  5. Teacher certification credits may not be counted toward a second degree.

  6. When there is overlap with the majors of the first or second degrees, the 50% limitation above and limited course offerings in some departments may preclude the pursuit of a second degree.
