Section 4: Graduate Studies

Testing-Miller Analogies Test and the Graduate Record Examination

Applications to degree programs and some certificate programs (see appropriate catalog section for specific information) are required to submit an official score report on either the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or the aptitude and appropriate advanced sections of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), as determined by each department, in support of their application for admission.

The test score is one of several criteria considered in the admissions process. The score alone is not a basis for denying admission. In cases where the score falls below a departmentally established level, an applicant may be asked to re-take the test. MAT and GRE test scores earned prior to application will be accepted provided the testing date is within (5) years of the application date.

The MAT is offered through the Center for Counseling and Human Development, located in Dutcher Hall, and applicants should contact the Center for test dates. The GRE is not administered on campus but information booklets and registration materials are available in the Center for Counseling and Human Development.

Applicants are encouraged to become familiar with test formats prior to sitting for the examination. Further information can be obtained in the reference section of Ganser Library.
