Event Overview
We are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Graduate Research and Creative Projects Symposium to be held on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Dixon University Center in Harrisburg . The symposium is designed to increase awareness on our campuses and beyond about the state-of-the-art research and creative projects undertaken by our graduate students. The event also provides a much needed forum for graduate students to enhance their presentation skills in research and creative endeavors.
Graduate students from Millersville University , Shippensburg University , and West Chester University are invited to submit proposals for the Graduate Research and Creative Projects Symposium. All current graduate students of the three universities and those who have received a graduate degree in the past twelve months from one of the institutions are eligible to participate in an oral or non-oral (e.g., research poster; visual arts display; recordings of music, or cinematic, dance and theater performance) presentation.
The conference will be held at the Dixon University Center , the home of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), in Harrisburg , on April 24, 2008 . Registration will begin at 12 noon followed by the opening plenary session at 1pm. Panel sessions will then run throughout the afternoon in the Administration Building and be grouped thematically around disciplines. The individual presentations at the panel sessions will be no more than 15 minutes in length followed by time for discussion. Poster sessions will also run throughout the afternoon in the main lobby.
The registration costs for the symposium, including refreshments for the participants, are being covered by the graduate programs of the sponsoring state universities. The event is being planned and hosted by the graduate deans of the respective institutions in collaboration with the three universities' graduate student organizations.
