Problem Name: Fruit for Sale

 

Problem:

          Farmer Bob grew apples and peaches on his farm to sale.  He sold each bag of apples for $2 and each bag of peaches for $4.  At the end of the day, he came home with $20.  List all the possible combinations of apples and peaches to equal the amount he earned.

 

Directions:

Problem Solutions:

  1.

2 bags of apples @ $2 each =   $ 4

 

4 bags of peaches @ $4 each = $16

 

 

4 bags of apples @ $2 each =   $ 8

 

3 bags of peaches @ $4 each = $12

 

 

6 bags of apples @ $2 each =   $12

 

2 bags of peaches @ $4 each = $ 8

 

 

8 bags of apples @ $2 each =   $16

 

1 bags of peaches @ $4 each = $ 4

 

*Each combination equals $20.  In a correct procedure, the student must show multiplication and addition in order to get total cost of $20.
