Grade Level: PreK-2
Content Area: Geometry
Adaptations:
1.
Because of the frequent use of manipulatives
in primary classrooms, it is suggested, as an alternative, that each child be
provided with a “shape bag” containing a star, a circle, a triangle, a heart, a
rhombus, a rectangle, an oval, and a half-circle. The child would then be instructed to take
from the bag, the same shapes he observed on the gym floor and glue them to the
paper. The remaining shaped could then
be glued to the paper under the question, “Which shapes do not belong?”
and the question “Why?’ would be answered as before.
2.
The number of shapes included in the listing or the
bag could be increased or decreased depending on the grade level.
3.
For kindergarten, the teacher may read the
questions.
