Collecting Data and Constructing Graphs
Objective: Students will construct bar graphs and pictographs
using data collected through student surveys.
Students will compare and interpret data.

Easy graphs with Microsoft Excel
1.
Open Microsoft
Excel program
2.
Go to file and
scroll down to “save as” and pick a name to save your document
3.
Move cursor and
click in box A- 1
4.
Type one food/or
other choice in box
5.
Repeat the
procedure in box B-1, C-1, D-1 to accommodate the number of choices.
6.
When complete
type the number of each choice in the box directly under the food. (A-1, B-1, C-1, D-1)
(For
example: if 3 people wished it would rain pancakes (A-1) for breakfast just put
the # 3 under the box that says pancakes (A- 2))
7.
If you need a
bigger box than provided to write in go to “Insert” and the select column and you can choose to make the
column wider or select Row to make
the row taller.
8.
When the
selections and numbers are typed in “save”
9.
Then go to “Insert”
and select chart and select a chart
type and click next, click next again and write in your title name and names of
your X and Y axis.
10.
Click finish and print!
