
CAMPUS ORGANIZATIONS
Students are encouraged to become involved in at least one organization or student activity. Playing on a team, joining a club, participating in a musical group or contributing your talents in another way to a meaningful activity can be an important addition to your total educational experience. It also makes college more fun and is a good way to develop friendships.
The following pages list most of the groups on campus. If your particular interest is not here and you can find students of like mind, new clubs can be established by following procedures outlined in Article V of the Student Senate Constitution.
All-Campus Musical Organization (ACMO)
This organization's activities include a musical produced by students each spring semester. ACMO offers students an opportunity to become involved in the many areas of musical theater. This organization also shows musical films on campus for student audiences.
Council of Musical Organizations ( COMO )
COMO encompasses the following groups: Symphonic Band, University Choir, University-Community Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Chamber Ensemble, Flute Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Saxophone Ensemble, String Ensemble and Woodwind Ensemble.
Students interested in participating in COMO or interested in learning more about this organization should contact the Music Department.
Gospel Choir of Millersville
This choir sings the glory of God, spreads the word of God through gospel music, and provides a medium for Christian worship and fellowship. The Gospel Choir is designed to stimulate the social and cultural areas of the University community.
Men’s Choir
It is the desire of the Millersville University Men's Choir to sing a wide array of music both accompanied and a cappella including classical, spiritual and contemporary.
Millersville Chorale
It is an ensemble dedicated to the study and performance of the finest music ever written for mixed chorus.
Millersville University Bands
Millersville's bands promote interest and ability in band music. The Marauder Marching Unit plays at all home football games and some away games, marches in the Homecoming parade, and participates in other campus events and activities. The Pep Band contributes to the enhancement of athletic contests by providing music, especially at basketball games. All students interested may join. The Symphonic Band performs in winter and spring concerts, in a children's appreciation concert and pops concert. Auditions are required to join the Symphonic Band. A wind ensemble is formed from members of the symphonic band and performs on several occasions. The Jazz Ensemble performs at University concerts and high school assembly programs. Students must audition to join.
Mixed Chorus
To promote the performance of the finest music written for chorus and to deliver and develop musical skills for individual singers.
Music Educators National Conference (MENC)
The Millersville Chapter of MENC No. 92 was organized to promote music education. The organization sponsors guest speakers and performances, clinics, field trips and student work at Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) conventions. Monthly meetings are held. Members must be music education majors or students with areas of interest in music. Membership is not open to professional teachers.
University Choir
The choir through its activities represents the university to the community. In addition to the appearances at the university, the choir may make appearances within the community and outside, including but not limited to clubs and churches in the service area.
All-Greek Council
The All-Greek Council is made up of members from each social fraternity and sorority. The purposes of the Council are to promote interest in fraternity and sorority life, to ensure cooperation among the organizations in the areas of Greek life, and, most importantly, to establish unity of spirit and action among its members.
Fraternities and sororities have a responsibility to the University and the community to conduct activities and functions that reflect positively upon their membership. Loss of privileges, which may include denial of official recognition, may be imposed on any organization whose conduct on or off campus negatively affects the University, especially when the organization fails to accept responsibility for the health and safety of other persons.
National Pan-Hellenic Council
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is made up of the historically Black fraternities and sororities represented on campus. NPHC brings together Greeks on campus in service projects and social activities. Individual organizations plan various social and academic events.
Interfraternity Council
The Interfraternity Council (IFC), composed of five fraternities, oversees fraternity life on campus. The council promotes scholarship, athletics, leadership and social awareness. The council also coordinates fund-raising, service projects and social events and offers a forum for members' opinions.
Panhellenic Council
Panhellenic , composed of six sororities, oversees the Greek women's activities on campus. To encourage academic excellence, Panhellenic gives annual awards to high achievers and the sorority with the highest QPA. In addition, Panhellenic performs service projects for the community and promotes sisterhood within MU sororities.
Acacia
Acacia International Fraternity, formed in 1904, came to the MU campus in 1987. Its goals are scholarship, leadership, service and brotherhood. Community projects have served St. Joseph Hospital blood bank, the Lancaster YMCA Penny Carnival, the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Association, ORCA and the Shriner's Burn Center. Acacia is the only national fraternity to choose a Greek word for its name rather than a combination of letters.
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
Alpha Phi Alpha's ongoing goals are manly deeds committed by all Alpha Men, the pursuit of scholastic excellence, and to exhibit love to all mankind through community involvement. Founded in 1906, the Iota Sigma chapter was born at Millersville in 1972. All men interested in the continuation of these goals are encouraged to express interest.
Alpha Sigma Alpha
A national service and social sorority, the Epsilon Kappa chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha is dedicated to the spiritual, social, physical and intellectual growth of its members. Sisters are actively involved in the community, participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program, helping disabled children at the nearby S. June Smith Center, and supporting the Special Olympics. The EK chapter has been noted for its excellence, winning a Millersville Chapter Excellence Award in the spring 1994 semester. Alpha Sigma Alpha was installed on the MU campus April 11, 1987. Women who have completed at least 12 credits and have an average QPA of 2.3 may be eligible to become members.
Alpha Sigma Tau
Alpha Sigma Tau initiated the Beta Iota chapter in 1976, making it the first national sorority on campus. It promotes appreciation of individual qualities among its sisters and service to the University and community. AST's motto is to be active, self-reliant, and trustworthy. Women who have completed at least 12 credits and maintained a QPA of 2.25 are eligible to become members.
Alpha Xi Delta
Alpha Xi Delta, Theta Alpha chapter, was installed in 1990. Formed from the local chapter of Omega Theta Sigma (founded 1966), Alpha Xi, which celebrates its local 10 year anniversary, has had a strong history at Millersville. Alpha Xi stresses enduring friendships, challenging ideals and cherished traditions. Any woman who has completed 12 credits and has maintained a 2.25 QPA is eligible to join. Alpha Xi Delta inspires women to realize their potential through sisterhood.
Chi Alpha Tau
"Lasting friendship and service to others" is the motto of Chi Alpha Tau Sorority. The sisters strive toward diversity among their members while still emphasizing unity. In addition to participating in social activities, the sisters perform service projects and fundraisers such as Skip-a-Meal for the American Cancer Society and volunteering their time to the children of Ronald McDonald House. Chi Alpha Tau encourages all women who have completed 12 credits and have maintained a 2.0 QPA to inquire.
Delta Sigma Theta
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The Sorority was founded in 1913 by 22 students at Howard University. These young woman wanted to use their colletive strength to pomote academic exceellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; to educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities.
Delta Zeta
The Xi Tau chapter of the Delta Zeta sorority was established on MU's campus in 1987. Delta Zeta is the largest international sorority in the world. Its mascot is the turtle, and its symbols are the lamp, the diamond and the Killarney rose. Friendship is the motto. The philanthropy of Delta Zeta helping the speech and hearing impaired, affiliated with Gallaudet University . Delta Zeta's colors are vieux green and old rose. Campus activities include food drives, participation in a local headstart program and the Play Fair. Delta Zeta is very concentrated on academics and making their members' college experience worthwhile. Women interested in joining must have a 2.5 QPA and 12 credits.
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Many male students are interested in an organization that provides wholesome social, academic and recreational opportunities. Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity was organized to meet these needs on the Millersville campus and to promote brotherhood, achievement in every field of human endeavor and service to the community.
Mu Sigma Upsilon
Mu Sigma Upsilon sorority Inc. was founded on November 21st 1981 at Rutgers University New Brunswick as as the first Multicultural Greek Letter Organization. These founders were five woman determined to establish an organization that brought together all woman. It was their limitless vision that enabled these determined woman to break down the barriers and build the brdiges that connected woman from all different parts of the world. Hence the motto Mujers Siempre Unidas or Woman Always United.
Lambda Chi Alpha
The Lambda Chi Alpha International Fraternity colonized at MU in the spring of 1991. Since then, the men of Lambda Chi Alpha have established themselves within the Millersville University community through their commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom. The brotherhood takes great pride in its diversified social program, intensive recruitment process, and dedication to helping those in its surrounding community. Men with similar ideals, a 2.25 QPA, and a minimum of 12 credits are encouraged to join.
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
Sigma Gamma Rho is a national social service sorority, founded in 1922, that encourages friendship, sisterhood, character, academic achievement and community service. Women who have attained a minimum of 12 credits and have a 2.3 QPA are qualified and welcome to join.
Sigma Phi Delta
Sigma Phi Delta is a social sorority founded by women interested in strengthening their University friendships and expanding their University experiences. Founded in 1966, it is the oldest local sorority on campus. In addition to social activities, the members participate in service projects benefiting both the University and the community. Their philanthropy is the American Cancer Society. Membership is open to all women students who have completed 12 credits and have maintained a QPA of not less than 2.0.
Sigma Pi
Sigma Pi is an international social service fraternity, at Millersville since 1976. The MU chapter is active with philanthropic projects such as fundraising for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and volunteer work for several local charities. Sigma Pi also sponsors numerous social functions including dances, mixers, and formals. Pledging lasts six weeks and focuses on academics, fraternity history and leadership skills. Men with at least 12 credits and a QPA of 2.0 or higher may join.
Sigma Tau Gamma
As the first national social fraternity at MU, we have more than 25 years of tradition. These traditions include building leadership qualities as well as social and academic success. Founded in 1920, Sigma Tau Gamma has over 125 chapters and colonies nationwide. Activities involve visiting other chapters and the White Rose Formal in the spring. Men must have a 2.0 QPA and 12 credits to be eligible to join.
Tau Kappa Epsilon
Zeta Phi Beta
The purpose of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority is to foster the ideas of service, charity, scholarship, civil and cultural endeavors, sisterhood and finer womanhood. These ideals are reflected in the sorority's national program for which its members and auxiliary groups provide voluntary service to staff, community outreach programs, fund scholarships, support organized charities, and promote legislation for social and civic change.
Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society
Our goal is to encourage and reward academic excellence among first-year students at Millersville University .
Pi Lambda Theta
Pi Lambda Theta is an honor and professional association in education. It recognizes persons of superior scholastic achievement and high potential for professional leadership. It also promotes independent-thinking educators who can ask critical questions to improve educational decision making. Each candidate for membership is required to have a minimum 3.5 QPA and a minimum of 10 graduate credits.
Bible Campus Ministry
The Black Ministry program seeks to provide black students with activities that will assist in enhancing their spiritual, cultural and social life. Activities include biweekly worship services, the Gospel Choir (the nucleus of Black Ministry), black awareness programs such as "Black Expressions," Symposium on Black History, arts festivals and other black cultural activities.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is affiliated with the National Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Their mission is to present to athletes and coaches, and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and I the fellowhip of the church.
Hillel
Hillel brings Jewish culture to students through the sponsorship of a Hillel council in cooperation with Franklin and Marshall College . At Millersville, Hillel sponsors lox and bagel brunches, services, Passover meals, home hospitality during the high holidays, movies, parties, and social and athletic events. Many affairs are planned in cooperation with National Hillel , a subsidiary of B'Nai B'rith . Hillel is open to all students.
Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF)
The Millersville chapter of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship of America seeks to lead students to a personal faith in Christ and strengthen spiritual life through prayer, Bible study, Christian fellowship and witnessing. Activities include Bible study, prayer meetings and weekend retreats. Interested students may join.
John Newman Association
The John Newman Student Association is the student component of Catholic Campus Ministry. Together they sponsor weekend and daily Mass, retreats, social outreach programs, spiritual and educational activities, and other events. Newman House, 227 N. George St. , is open to all students as a place to relax, eat, pray, study and meet friends. Fr. Ed Malesic is the chaplain to Catholic students.
Reformed University Fellowship
The Reformed University Fellowship group of RUF is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America through its campus ministry branch, Reformed University Ministries. The purpose of RUF is to reach students as MU for Christ and to equip them to serve Christ in his church, on the campus and in the world.
United Campus Ministry
We are Christians who strengthen and promote ecumenical and interfaith relationships. We provide a friendly environment where students are free to express themselves. We try to cater to students' needs.
University Christian Fellowship (UCF)
UCF exists for the purpose of helping the campus community discover and develop their faith through various experiences and expressions. This group welcomes all persons, regardless of religious or nonreligious background, and is designed to complement the college experience by promoting spiritual well-being.
Delta Phi Eta
The sorority, founded in 1941, is the oldest sorority on campus. It recognizes scholastic excellence among women students at Millersville University . Activities include service projects for the University and community, such as working with the American Cancer Society, local food banks and blood drives. Women students with a 3.4 QPA, a minimum of 30 credits and a maximum of 100 credits are eligible to pledge.
Phi Sigma Pi (Sigma chapter)
Phi Sigma Pi is a national honor fraternity that recognizes excellence in academics and service to the University and community. Fraternity activities include service projects, such as parties for disabled and underprivileged children in Lancaster . The oldest fraternity on campus (founded in 1934), Sigma chapter won the Joseph Torchia award for four consecutive years. The award is presented annually to the three outstanding chapters of Phi Sigma Pi in the nation.
Accounting Association
The purpose of this organization is to bring professional and educational organizations to Millersville University for presentations relating to the careers and issues in accounting, to provide for more interaction between students and accounting employers for the benefit of the student and Millersville's accounting program, and to promote professional and social fellowship among accounting students for the purpose of increasing the strength of Millersville accounting program.
Allies
The purpose of this organization is to advocate acceptance of and toward the gay, lesbian and bisexual community, to develop strategies and recommendations that will assist in creating a campus environment that is less homophobic and less hostile towards gays, lesbians, and bisexuals, to promote understanding about sexual orientation through programming, and to expose and challenge homophobia on the campus through education.
American Chemical Society
The American Chemical Society encourages the advancement of chemistry in all of its branches and the promotion of chemical knowledge, scientific and professional interests, and the well-being of its members.
American Choral Directors Association
Their purpose is to educate students on topics concerning choral conduction, bringing awareness to the University, and sharing knowledge with High School Musicians in the area.
American Meteorological Society - MU Chapter
The objectives of the AMS are "the development and dissemination of the knowledge of meteorology in all its phases and applications, and the advancement of its professional ideals". The MU chapter is a vital link in maintaining good communication at the local level among students, atmospheric scientists and meteorologists. Founded in 1986, the chapter sponsors activities such as forecasting workshops, guest speakers, and trips to local AMS conferences. Membership is open to all who hold an interest in meteorology, oceanography and related disciplines.
American Society of Safety Engineers
The Student Section of this organization provides information about occupational safety and hygiene management. The group fosters a professional image in each student and in the organization. It uses the special skills and knowledge of students and faculty in planning programs, services and activities. It sponsors programs for the advancement of safety to further the professional preparation of its members.
Anthropology Society
The Anthropology Society is a campus organization that was founded by Anthropology department staff and students in order to continue the discipline out of the classroom. All Anthropology majors are encouraged to attend the weekly meetings, but the club is by no means for majors only. Anyone who has an interest in exploring the cultures of the world or discovering more about their own cultural heritage is invited to attend.
The Anthropology Society sponsors campus-wide events throughout the semester, such as the previous semesters' guest speakers and Anthropology Awareness Day. Regular club meetings focus on planning these events, occasional trips and workshops, and of course stimulating conversations and sharing of ideas with fellow club members, as well as a deeper relationship with department faculty. Anthropology literally means "the study of man;" come join us in learning about people and cultures around the world, which inevitably leads to a better understanding of oneself.
Army Corps of Cadets (ROTC)
To provide the Army ROTC cadets at MU an organization that will foster the growth and well-being of the students in that program.
Art Club
The purpose of this organization is to provide a smooth transition from education in art to professional practice, to raise and maintain a high standard of competent education in art, to gain insight and perspective about teaching and contemporary concepts in education, to sponsor educational projects, to promote cooperative learning, to emphasize the importance of personal and academic growth in the field of education and the area of artistic expression, to emphasize to other majors the importance of the visual arts and art education, to promote field work experience for art students, and to provide an outlet for discussion for the visual arts.
Asian Society
Their purpose is to encourage academic and social activities for Millersville students which focus on Asian culture to provide guidance and assistance for Asian students attending MU and to promote the study of the Asian languages and customs.
Best Buddies
The purpose of this organization is to match individuals from the University with individuals with mental retardation for the community. The individuals from the school are non-paid friends and help open up new social environments for the individuals with mental retardation. All students are welcome.
Biology Club
The Biology Club provides a forum for academic exchanges, including but not limited to seminars, field trips, and joint meetings with other organizations interested in biological sciences.
Black Student Union
The goals of the BSU are to create a substantial and meaningful community atmosphere for its members, to be an integral part of the community, and to provide unity among the students.
Bowling Club
The purpose of the bowling club shall be to bring people with an interest in bowling together to compete in a league setting and to socialize with fellow students.
Cine/Film Club
The purpose of the film club is to explore the social, political, race/class/gender, and historical aspects and implications presented through film. Also, their goal is to promote film and art house cinema to generate critical thinking.
Circle K
Circle K promotes the following ideals: to put human and spiritual values above material values; to encourage the daily living of the golden rule; to promote high standards in social, business and professional activities; to develop by ideas and examples a more intelligent, aggressive and service-minded citizenship; to form enduring friendships; and to build better communities.
Citamard Players
Citamard promotes the theatrical experience, both as participant and as audience, at Millersville University . In conjunction with the University Theatre, Citamard produces three major student productions each year and, when possible, imports an area theatre group for one production. Citamard members also may direct or perform short plays or sponsor dances and other social events. Any student who participates in one major production and remains active is considered a member of Citamard .
College Democrats
The College Democrats offer equality to the political awareness of the student body on campus. The organization works in coordination with the Lancaster Democratic Committee, the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee and the Pennsylvania Federation of College Democrats to facilitate the complete effectiveness of democracy and party leadership on campus.
College Republicans
This organization educates and informs students at Millersville University about the Republican Party and provides opportunities for all students to examine political issues facing American citizens on a local, state, national, and international level.
Commuting Students' Association
The Commuting Students' Association, headquartered in Philadelphia House on West Frederick Street , gives nonresident students a voice on campus. All off-campus and commuting students can participate in the organization's activities and use Philadelphia House facilities.
Conestoga Club
The purpose of the Conestoga Club is to encourage environmental awareness at the University and to promote ecological education.
Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
CEC is a national organization for all persons interested in exceptional children. The MU chapter works to expand knowledge of the special education field beyond the college classroom by providing first-hand experiences with exceptional children. Activities include monthly meetings, guest speakers, recreation and swim programs for disabled and socially maladjusted children and the Packet for Independent Learning (PILS). To complete PILS, students observe special education classes, tutor exceptional children and visit institutions for exceptional citizens.
Cultural Affairs Committee
The Cultural Affairs Committee, sponsored jointly by the Faculty and Student Senate, is an elected committee of students and faculty. The director of student activities serves as an ex officio member. This committee strives to present a variety of cultural and educational entertainment of the highest quality.
Dance Marathon
This student organization plans a 24-hour Dance Marathon that raises funds for the Children 's Miracle Network. This event is planned throughout the fall spring semester, and the event is held in the spring semester of each academic year. All students are welcome to participate.
Dolphin Club
The purpose of the Dolphin Club is to further interest Millersville University about synchronized swimming by presenting at least one major swimming event during the school year and by allowing students the opportunity to learn and perfect the various skills involved.
Early Childhood Organization (ECHO)
To provide service opportunities as well as professional development to future educators who will be interacting and working with children.
Economics Society
The purpose of this organization is to promote professional understanding of the American economy, to promote academic opportunities and achievements and to work towards creating an awareness of other national economic organizations.
English Club
The purpose of this organization is to unite English majors and offer them an opportunity to exchange ideas and offer constructive criticism in an intellectual manner. The club shares writings and literature offered by its members and gives them an open forum to voice their opinions. It aims to establish camaraderie among club members and with the University faculty. Membership is open to all students, faculty and staff.
Entomology Society
The purpose of this organization is to promote knowledge of insects, plants and other wildlife. Field trips are conducted in fall and spring to Big Bend National Park , Texas , the Florida Keys and other exotic places. Hiking, swimming, snorkeling, collecting, photography and camping are some of the main activities on these trips.
The Entrepreneurial Musicians Forum
This organization provides a forum for the exchange of ideas about songwriting and information regarding the music business as well as managerial and production opportunities. The club sponsors workshops led by professionals in various fields of the music business. It attempts to provide an opportunity for songwriters to hear their material and performers to become acquainted with new, original material. Membership is open to any student interested in the music industry.
Essence Dance Group
The purpose of Essence is to unite minority women through the performing arts. They dance at many campus and community events during the year.
Expressions
Expression was formed to provide a dance-training program for those who have interest in the performing arts. Their goal is to perform and form a dance company here at Millersville University .
First Dimension Records
First Dimension is a student run record label that helps to promote student talent, gain music industry experience and connections. Their goals include releasing first artists, adding more artists, adding more artists to our repertoire, and creating a network for CRIS recording studio and the Music Department.
Footprints Praise Dancers
The purpose of this organization is to stimulate interest in dancing to gospel music and encourage Christian fellowship.
French Circle
Le Cercle Français promotes interest in the language and culture of French-speaking peoples. Its activities include trips to art museums and theaters, dinners, teas, the observance of French holidays and a junior year abroad presentation.
Geography Club
Organized for students whose interest lies in the field of geography, the club provides an opportunity for social contact with faculty and exploration and discussion of topics of geographic interest not included in formal classwork . The club takes several field trips and assists its members in career and job decisions.
Geology Club
Provides the opportunity for students of the earth sciences to become better acquainted, to promote interest in geology and the earth sciences, and to provide opportunities beyond the classroom to interested geology students. All are welcome.
George Street Carnival
Provides Millersville students the opportunity both to have their art and writing published and to learn and practice editing and publishing.
German Club
The purpose of the German Club is to provide a connection between the learners of German and the language and culture.
Habitat for Humanity-MU Chapter
The campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity was formed to organize student volunteers to work on building houses for low-income people through the Lancaster City Area Habitat for Humanity. They will also engage in fund-raising for the cause and create an awareness of the Habitat for Humanity mission.
Helping Other People
Our mission is to provide an outlet for Millersville students to volunteer on the campus and surrounding communities.
Helping Paws
Helping Paws is a student organization dedicated to bettering the lives of animals in need. We also raise awareness in the community by volunteering and fundraising for local animal shelters and rescue facilities.
Herpetology Club
Their purpose is to educate the public and campus about reptiles and amphibians, and to perform community service dealing with reptiles and amphibians.
History Club
This club is open to all persons interested in promoting and stimulating a wider interest in specialized fields of history.
Human Powered Submarine Team
Our purpose is to design, fabricate, and successfully race a wet human powered submarine.
International Relations Club
The IRC was formed to provide assistance and guidance to international students enrolled at MU. Foreign students learn the customs of the country and the University community by participating in field trips, seminars, slide presentations and special dinners. An international students' newsletter is published to keep foreign students apprised of travel information, coming events, news and other items of interest.
Kappa Delta Rho
To create a living organization that actively challenges each member to rise above everyday pursuits, be of good character, and confront the needs of our modern society by placing honor above and before all things. A dedication to character development based on fellowship, leadership, scholarship, service and tradition.
Marauder Graphics Club
The Marauder Graphics Club is a student organization to promote the field of graphic communications and explore opportunities and technologies in this field.
MEISA
This group will provide students the ability to learn about the music and entertainment industry and allow them to obtain first hand experience from first hand experiences such as speakers, field trips, etc.
MU Alpha Theta
Provides a forum for students to discuss mathematics in a more social atmosphere that will hopefully inspire and encourage members to continue their studies.
MU Cable Station
The purpose of this organization is to supply Millersville students with the opportunity to participate in all aspects of producing both in studio and out of studio programs shown on campus.
MU Cool Cats Swing Club
The purpose of the club will be to develop a group on campus dedicated to swing dancing. The club will give basic and advanced instruction to fellow students, provide entertainment for fellow students at Millersville University and participate in community service.
MU Dance Team
Their purpose is to further educate the rest of campus and community about dance through performances. The team will also help its members improve technique and skill through practice performance and competition. Members strive to include technical creative and social aspects of dance while encouraging individual participation.
MU Jesters
The purpose of this organization is to unite individuals of all races, religions, cultures and ages through hacky sac, to bring individuals together on a common ground thus enabling them to express and understand themselves as well as others, to promote social equalization, and to extend environmental awareness throughout the University and surrounding communities.
MU Philosophical Society
To expand upon and supplement the curriculum of the MU Philosophy department by exposing students to a broad range of philosophical topics in a variety of contexts (film, lecture, open discussion, etc.) To provide students (regardless of their field study) with an educational and social extracurricular experience.
MU Pro-Life League
The purpose is to give our campus a better understanding of the extreme choices and consequences they are faced with everyday and to volunteer and serve in different pro-life areas in our community such as; aids clinics, adoption agencies, and women's shelters.
MU Society for Respiratory Care Practitioners
The purpose of this organization is to promote the scholarship of students of respiratory care, increase awareness of the respiratory care profession, advance the role of the respiratory care practitioner in the health care continuum, and promote the wellness of all people in our community.
MU Student Ambassadors
The MU Student Ambassadors work directly with alumni to further the cause of higher education and to foster a spirit of pride and tradition among students, alumni and friends of the University. MU Student Ambassadors assist at alumni events and plan numerous activities for students, such as a welcome dance for freshmen and the distribution of survival packages during the week of final exams.
MU Technology Education Collegiate Association (MUTECA)
MUTECA is a pre-professional technology education oriented student organization, which emphasizes professional development, community services, and social interaction among university students. MUTECA is open to all university students.
MU VOX
Voices for Planned Parenthood (VOX) is a nationwide program to energize and mobilize the new generation of pro-choice Americans. VOX aims to educate and inspire a new generation of young adults to advocate reproductive freedom.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
Provides students with information on political issues affecting today 's society.
National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT)
The purpose of the organization is to encourage the professional and social development of members, foster leadership by providing opportunities to serve in responsible positions, provide for the infusion of knowledge for sources beyond formal college or university settings such as field trips, seminars, and guest speakers, and provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas, experiences, and friendship among members.
National Broadcasting Society
Its purpose is to enhance the development of college and university students involved in broadcasting, cable, telecommunications, and other electronic media by promoting excellence, providing opportunities for leadership, providing exposure to the telecommunications industries, assisting career preparation, and providing opportunities for the development of members through advanced media education programs.
Ocean Science Club
The Ocean Science Club promotes student-organized research projects and sponsors student field trips. The club enhances formal education in ocean science by hosting guest speakers from other institutions, and by having presentations and discussions on topics of interest in the area of ocean science. Membership is open to all graduate and undergraduate students.
Phi Alpha Theta
They are a society whose purpose is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. They offer student conferences, historical trips and activities involving students and faculty.
Philosophical Society
Provides a community for students interested in discussing and learning about philosophical issues, to foster the growth of philosophical thinking within the student body, and to develop the philosophical atmosphere on campus through programs intended to reach a broader proportion of all Millersville students.
Physics Club
Provides an opportunity for the students of Millersville University to participate in projects, activities and discussions about various topics in physics. It shall further be the purpose of the club to promote and encourage and interest in physics among the members of the club, and the students of Millersville University .
Pi Sigma Epsilon (Marketing Club)
Works to develop the skills of Millersville students in the fields of Sales and Marketing.
Psychology Club
The Psychology Club stimulates interest in psychology and promotes good relations between students and professors involved in psychology. Activities include guest speakers, films, field trips, career night and social functions. Any student may join.
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)
PRSSA has several objectives: to encourage the understanding of current public relations theories and procedures; to provide students with the opportunity to meet their peers and public relations professionals; and to encourage students to maintain the highest ideals and a professional attitude in the practice of public relations. Membership is open to all graduate and undergraduate students.
Resident Students' Association
The Resident Students' Association includes all resident students. This organization provides services, coordinates activities, and assists in governing resident students. Students who live in residence halls are eligible to join the Activities Committees in each dorm or run for office on the Central Council of RSA.
Social Work Organization
The organization stimulates interest in social work and creates an identity among students majoring in or interested in social work as a career. Activities include guest speakers, films, field trips and social functions. Any student may join.
Society for the Advancement of Management
The purposes of the MU chapter are: to provide opportunity for interaction between the local business community and chapter members; to allow for the exchange of information and new ideas relevant to both business leaders and students; and to provide students with the opportunity to put textbook theory into practice through organizing, planning, directing, and controlling the activities of the chapter.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)
An international professional society devoted to serving its members and the manufacturing community through the advancement of professionalism, knowledge and learning. Established in 1932, SME has more than 70,000 members in 70 countries and sponsors more than 300 chapters, districts and 260 student chapters worldwide.
Society on Latino Affairs (SOLA)
This society promotes the cultural understanding of all Latino's; enhances Latino students' knowledge and self-pride in their ethnic heritage; fosters better human relations and understanding among all members of the University community and sensitizes the total University community to the needs and goals of this minority population.
Sociological Society
The Sociological Society promotes wider interest in specialized fields of sociology. The club organizes trips to conferences and museums, sponsors lectures and films, and plans fund-raisers and social events.
Songwriters
MU Songwriters is dedicated to promoting emerging songwriters of all genres and levels of experience. It provides a place where these individuals can refine their craft learn new songwriting techniques collaborate with other writers and perform their compositions with the campus community.
Spanish Club
Spanish Club promotes an interest in the Spanish language and culture and creates an atmosphere of unity among students interested in the language. Various club activities include sales, club sponsored trips, and speakers and cultural programs open to the public. All students are invited to attend.

To help members expand their knowledge of the business world in order to become more involved and understand of how it works.
Student Pennsylvania State Education Association (SPSEA)
SPSEA acts as a service organization to students in all fields of education by providing information about programs and by sponsoring sessions that stimulate professional practices, ethics and attitudes in teaching.
Student Senate
Promotes the general welfare of the university, is a medium for student opinion on matters of general interest, provides experience to its members on the principles and practice of democratic government, stimulates the cultural and social areas of University life, charters and oversees University organizations, and administers allocation of student activity funds.
Students in Free Enterprises (SIFE)
To encourage students to get involved with community and business activities and to promote the spirit of free enterprise in the community.
Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)
To empower Millersville University Staff, students, and the community to choose a tobacco free lifestyle and environment.
Technology Education Collegiate Association
The purpose of the club is to provide an opportunity for students interested in technology to attend conferences and to compete with other students from technology schools.
The Snapper
The purpose of The Snapper shall be to disseminate Millersville University and the surrounding community news concerning students, faculty, administration, and staff in an unbiased and unprejudiced manner and to facilitate expression of the attitudes and ideas of the student body and faculty, administration and staff.
Touchstone
Summarizes events of the current college year at Millersville University through the use of pictures and verbal explanations so as to produce an effect reference book for the present and future.
University Activities Board
The purpose of the University Activities Board is to provide a wide assortment of popular entertainment for students. Concerts, comedians, day trips, noontime variety shows, movies, cultural programs of interest, and Club De Ville, Millersville's own club, are a few examples.
Unpredictable Dance
To provide students with the opportunity to express themselves through the art of dance. Unpredictable will also help bring a unique essence to the University community by including diverse membership and incorporation various genres of dance.
Club Sports are student organizations that have been formed by individuals who are motivated by a common desire to participate in a particular sport or recreational activity. Club Sports are formed so participants can learn new skills, improve existing skills, engage in competition, or enjoy recreational and social fellowship.
The Club Sports program, which is partially funded by club members, has several important features: self-motivation, self-administration, and self-regeneration. Club Sports are governed by the Club Sports Council which is made up of representatives from each club. Samples of Club Sports on Campus are Bowling, MU Dance, Fencing, Ice Hockey, Men’s Lacrosse, Martial Arts, Men’s Rugby, Men’s Volleyball, Roller Hockey, Synchronized Swimming, Water Polo, and Women’s Rugby. Students interested in forming new clubs should contact the Student Government Association in the Student Memorial Center for details
Bowling
The bowling club has two components, social and competitive. The social aspect of the club meets every Tuesday evening at the local bowling alley and allows competition with other Millersville University students but is more social in nature. The competitive aspect practices weekly at a local bowling alley and competes in tournaments around the region.
MU Dance
The dance company's purpose is to further interest and development in different forms of dance by presenting performances throughout the school year. Students will have an opportunity to learn and perfect various skills involved in jazz and street dance. We strive to include technical, creative and social aspects of dance while encouraging individual participation.
Fencing
The Millersville University Fencing Guild is a member of the United States Fencing Association. We provide instruction in the sport of fencing for beginners-to-competitive fencers, and are active in competition with local clubs and colleges.
Ice Hockey
The Ice Hockey Club competes against other teams in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference. The team welcomes anyone interested in playing Ice Hockey or assisting the team in any way. The team is very competitive and does hold tryouts and make cuts every season.
Men’s Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a growing club that plays approximately a four (4) to seven (7) game schedule in the fall semester and an eight (8) to eleven (11) game schedule in the spring semester against other clubs in the National College Lacrosse League (NCLL), and Division III college teams. The team emphasizes team spirit, unity and fun. Players of all experience levels are invited to join the team.
Martial Arts
The Martial Arts Club is an organization composed of a variety of different martial art forms. Each art has qualified instructors that provide a well rounded education in their traditional arts. Emphasis is on a total wellness of mind, body and spirit as well as self-defense. Membership to the club allows one to experience arts and their traditions to their fullest capacity. The only requirement for joining is a willingness to learn. Progression through the arts is possible, with official certification being provided.
Men’s Rugby
From its inception seventeen years ago, the MU Rugby Club has been building a winning tradition. The club continues to grow and carry on its fine winning tradition in the Eastern PA Rugby Union. Graduation, however has taken some of our best players, so we are currently looking for some new men to join us in furthering a great tradition. Emphasis is placed on teaching newcomers the art of rugby football.
Men’s Volleyball
The Men’s Volleyball Club is a very competitive team which competes against various college volleyball teams in the Mid Atlantic Collegiate Volleyball Conference as well as teams form the United States Volleyball Association. The team consists of players whose ability ranges from the inexperienced to several years of active participation. Practicing from September to May each year, the team manages to have a great time while seeing a lot of action. We are always searching for people who are interested and want to share or develop their volleyball skills.
Roller Hockey
The Roller Hockey Club provides its members with the opportunity to participate in the East Coast Regional Roller Hockey Association. The club holds regular meetings, practices, team functions and games with competing universities. They also promote solidarity, good team sportsmanship, and fair play among their members.
Synchronized Swimming
The Dolphin Club invites anyone who is a capable swimmer to join the club. Members have come from a wide spectrum of skill levels, so experience is not necessary. Synchronized swimming skills and routines are taught and prepared for competitions and the annual spring fund-raiser water show. The intercollegiate competitions are against schools from all over the US. We compete depending on the number of swimmers and the enthusiasm of the swimmers to participate.
Water Polo
Millersville's Water Polo Club is a co-ed club aimed at having fun. Governed by the Collegiate Water Polo Association, Millersville's competitive season formulates in the fall where they compete in the Mid-Atlantic Division. Millersville rivals the division with Penn State, University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon, Bloomsburg, Villanova, Slippery Rock, University of Delaware and several others. In the spring, the club competes in several invitational tournaments, including their own home tournament.
Women’s Rugby
Women’s Rugby, established in 1992, maintains the MU tradition of competitiveness and excellence while encouraging fun. As a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union, we are currently ranked in the top of Division II in Women’s Collegiate Divisional Play. We are actively recruiting members to participate and welcome all new faces.
George Street Carnival
This organization publishes a literary magazine. It is a permanent organization of students interested in the creative arts and in learning publishing procedures.
Snapper
The campus paper, The Snapper , reflects whenever possible the activities and attitudes of students, faculty or administration, as well as local, state, national and international news. Membership is open to any student interested in producing The Snapper.
Touchstone
The University yearbook, Touchstone , provides students with their only permanent record of each University year. In publication since 1899, it is one of the oldest student publications on campus. The yearbook covers academics, seniors, campus life, happenings, organizations, sports , cultural and social activities. Any interested student may join the staff. If needed, instruction is provided for staff who have little or no previous experience in yearbook publication. The yearbook has its own darkroom for student photographers.
WIXQ-FM (Q-92)
The campus radio station, WIXQ-FM, operates for the entertainment of the students and faculty of Millersville and the surrounding community. Students who maintain a minimum QPA of 2.0 and are not on social probation are eligible to be station members of WIXQ. Freshmen and transfer students without QPA ratings are eligible to join.
