INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
The athletic departments at Millersville University believe that athletic competition is a desirable and integral part of the educational process for students. All students are encouraged to try out for University athletic teams at the varsity level. Students who are interested in trying out should contact the appropriate head coach for information or watch for announcements posted in the University gymnasiums. Spectators may obtain season schedules for sports in the appropriate men's or women's athletic offices, or call the ticket office (871-5522).
It is important that students who participate in intercollegiate sports understand that the basic student insurance plan of the University does not cover injuries sustained in intercollegiate sports. The student-athlete is responsible for the first $1,000 incurred for any athletic injury. The athletic department provides an insurance program as excess coverage for medical and hospital charges on a usual and customary basis. A catastrophic injuries policy is provided by the NCAA.
The intercollegiate athletic program at Millersville is funded primarily through allocations by the Student Senate from the student activity fee. All of the University intercollegiate teams compete within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, which comprises the 14 state universities. Conference championships are held in each sport.
All of Millersville's men's teams participate in competition sanctioned by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference( PSAC), and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The wrestling team competes on the NCAA's Division I level, while the remaining eight teams compete in NCAA Division II.

All of Millersville's women's teams participate in competition sanctioned by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Conference. All of the women's teams participate at the Division II level of the NCAA.
The director of athletics is Ms. Peg Kauffman, whose office is located in Jefferson Hall.
