General Industrial Technology Option

Degrees Offered: Bachelor of Science and Associate of Technology
Information effective for students admitted since fall 2007.

The general technology option provides a well-rounded and broad-based introduction to industrial technologies. The coursework included in the general technology option will provide experiences in electricity/electronic, mechanical, manufacturing, drafting/design, and graphic communication technologies.

The coursework you'll complete is divided into two basic categories – general education (required by the University) and departmental requirements (major coursework).

Technical Literacy Core: 9 credit hours (3 courses)

  • ITEC 110 - Communications Systems (3 cr.)
  • ITEC 120 - Energy, Power, Transportation (3 cr.)
  • ITEC 130 - Production Materials & Processes (3 cr.)

Management Core: 15 credit hours (5 courses)

  • ITEC 492 - Industrial Organization (3 cr.)
  • ITEC 494 - Total Quality Management (3 cr.)
  • OSEH 120 - Safety, Health, & Environmental Issues (3 cr.)
  • BUAD 251 - Organization & Management (3 cr.)
  • BUAD 452 - Production & Operations Management (3 cr.)

Elective Courses in Management: 9 credit hours (3 courses)

Choose any three from the following:

  • BUAD 161 - Introduction to Financial Accounting (3 cr.)

  • BUAD 353 - Labor-Management Relations (3 cr.)
  1. A maximum of six credit hours of cooperative education will be counted towards graduation requirements.
  2. OSEH 320: Safety Engineering Principles, is required for all construction technology majors.
