ABOUT / PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Graphic & interactive design department’s challenging curriculum, experienced professors, visiting artist lectures, AIGA events, and internships seek to develop a deeper appreciation for design.

First year students begin taking foundation courses in 2D and 3D Design and Drawing 1. Following the first year, students can enroll in courses in specific areas of design;
for example, Typography, Package design, Intro to Computer Art (see the courses descriptions).

Senior year design students are required to take Portfolio class. In the class, students create a personal identity, marketing themselves to future employers. In preparation of future interviews, the emphasis of the class is creating a portfolio that showcases their work.

Design professionals recognize the Millersville University’s graphic & interactive department a top program in region. Graduates from the program are prepared to enter a career in graphic or interactive design. Designers are employed at magazines and newspapers, design studios, advertising agencies, multimedia firms, web development, architectural firms, animations studios, publishing companies, and corporations.

As design continues to evolve with new media and consumer’s needs, Millersville design program also seeks to adapt with the design field.
