COMMUNITY / GALLERIES

Students have a great opportunity of having three galleries on campus. Each gallery shows High caliper student or professional work. Students have a chance to show in the Annual Juried Student exhibition in the spring semester which is held in Sykes gallery in Breidendstine hall.

Sykes gallery
Sykes Gallery exhibits high quality, fine art produced by professional artists. This gallery serves not only as a primary instructional resource for art students, but also as a cultural resource for the Millersville community and surrounding region. Gallery attendance averages 2,000 visitors per academic year.

Swift gallery
Swift Gallery provides an opportunity for undergraduate art students to display their work. Throughout the academic year, this gallery exhibits the finest works by students. Students seeking the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree are required to install a show at this gallery prior to graduation.

Ganser gallery
The other gallery on campus is located on the ground floor of Ganser Library. Ganser Gallery exhibits high quality, fine art work produced by professional artists of national and international renown. Exhibitions deal with social and aesthetic issues that go beyond the boundaries of the classroom and stress cultural diversity. Past artists include Ruth Borgenicht, Masumi Hayashi, Virgil Marti, Alice Oh, Mimi Shapiro, John Schulz, Dick Torchia, Syd Carpenter, Zoe Beloff, and the Irish art collective half/angel, among others

Student exhibitions
Student exhibition opportunities include the annual student exhibition in Sykes and Swift galleries, opportunities to show downtown during First Friday in downtown Lancaster galleries, and BFA exhibitions in Swift gallery throughout the year.
