Study Strategies
What to Own as a
Sociology Major:
- A sociology dictionary. Blackwell's
Sociology Dictionary is a good resource. The point is to own a
dictionary of sociological concepts.
- An introduction to sociology text. Save your intro
textbook! If you sold it, buy a used copy.
- A date book to record your assignment due dates and
exam dates.
- A jump drive, zip disk, or other storage media for
your work. Your MAX account now offers a suitcase feature in which you can
store a back up copy of your work. Use this to save copies of anything you
don't want to lose.
- A guide to the American Sociological Association's
style for citing your sources. Either purchase A Guide to Writing
Sociology Papers or follow this link to an abbreviated
version of the ASA Style Guide.
- Your Social Statistics textbook. You will need this
when you take Social Research Methods.
Dr. Schaffer has an
excellent set of guidelines for the sophomore review and sample schedules
showing how to complete your Bachelor's degree in sociology in 5 or fewer
years. Follow this link to his page and review the advising
materials.
