Chapter 8: Equity, Fairness, and Inclusiveness

Millersville's mission is, in part, to prepare our students "to live in an increasingly diverse [and] multicultural society," in part by "serving as a model of a pluralistic community" pledged to "multicultural awareness and understanding, within an environment of civility, mutual respect, and cooperation." We are deeply committed to building a campus community within which equity, fairness, and inclusiveness prevail, and this is therefore the third theme of our vision. The theme states, "We will build an inclusive and diverse University community, in which all our constituents are appreciated, respected, and involved."

Millersville University has made considerable progress in moving the campus community closer to a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment for all people. This chapter focuses on the campus climate for individuals in underrepresented and protected classes; resources that promote equity, fairness, and inclusiveness; and the effectiveness of these programs in achieving their goals.
