Threaded throughout the Self-Study are numerous self-identified strengths, the vast majority of which the team also affirms. We do want to take this opportunity, however, to note those that we believe to be the core defining strengths of the institution. They are:

• A pervasive spirit of pride, mutual respect, and collegiality among the University's various constituencies: faculty, staff, students, alumni, and Trustees. Even when there is disagreement, there is a high level of trust and a shared commitment to doing what is best for the institution and, particularly, for the students.

• A well-deserved reputation -- locally, regionally, and nationally -- as an institution distinguished by its excellence.

• An outstanding faculty committed to teaching and actively engaged in scholarly growth and productivity. It is evident that at Millersville the provision of high-quality educational programs is of foremost priority.

• Creation of a climate for learning that is inclusive and supportive of a diverse complement of students, faculty, and staff.

• An attractive, well-maintained physical plant.

• Location in a dynamic, fast-growing, prosperous, attractive area of the Commonwealth.

• Enthusiastic support from a dedicated, knowledgeable Council of Trustees.

• Broad-based respect and support from other community and business leaders with whom the team met.

• Successful completion of an ambitious capital campaign, testimony to the high regard in which the institution is held by alumni and other benefactors.
