Gingerbread House Contest

Build a house to benefit our students!

This holiday season, Millersville food services is hosting a gingerbread house decorating contest which is open to students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community. A limited number of entries will be accepted.

Creations will be judged by a panel of culinary experts and will be auctioned with proceeds to benefit the Glorious Sounds Scholarship for music students.

A complimentary starter kit of prepared dough, icing, a basic instruction sheet (template), and 24” x 36” plywood base will be provided. Builders are encouraged to use their imaginations by adding candy and color to make their creations unique. All building materials must be edible. House starter kits will be available at the bake shop in Gordinier for all who have pre-registered starting November 17, at 2:00 p.m., November 18 after 11:00 a.m. and all day on November 19th.

TO PARTICIPATE, Registration deadline is November 1 at 2:00 p.m.

ALL ENTRIES FOR JUDGING ARE DUE TO THE FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN GORDINIER HALL ON DECEMBER 2 AND WILL BE RECEIVED BETWEEN 2:00 PM AND 8:00 PM. ONLY.

All entries become the property of food services department and award winning entries will be featured for silent auction during the Sounds of the Season Concert weekend in Lyte Auditorium (December 6, 7, 2008). The silent auction winners will be contacted by Monday, December 8 and their houses will need to be picked up on or before Friday, December 12 at noon from dining services.

Judging will be conducted on December 4 in the following categories:
*Most Creative
*Best Theme
*Best Skyline
*Most Colorful
*People’s choice
