Oboist Kirstin Gordon, a member of the Millersville music faculty since the fall of 2000, earned her B.S. in Music Education and Oboe Performance at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a minor in Piano. In 1999 she also earned her M.M. in Oboe Performance, summa cum laude, as a full scholarship recipient from Michigan State University. In addition to her Millersville appointment, Ms. Gordon has been the Oboe Professor at York College of Pennsylvania since the fall of 1999. Ms. Gordon has been a featured soloist with the Johnstown Symphony, the IUP Symphony, the New Holland Band, the Lyric Band of Hanover, and the Garden Spot High School Band. She has also been a soloist for The Wheatland Chorale, the Susquehanna Chorale, and has performed with the Lancaster Opera Company. While in Michigan she served on the faculty of Alma College and performed with such groups as the Greater Lansing Symphony Orchestra, West Shore Symphony, Jackson Symphony, and the Midland Symphony. Her primary teachers include Daniel Stolper, William McMullen, Robert Lloyd, Robin Driscoll, and Kim Webster. Ms. Gordon also studied bassoon with Barrick Stees while attending Michigan State University.

In addition to her collegiate appointments and solo engagements, Ms. Gordon maintains a private studio and works as a freelance artist. She is currently a member of the York Symphony Orchestra, the Reading Pops Orchestra, the Keystone Winds, and The Silverwood Trio. She was also the principal oboist of the New Holland Band for 16 years. Ms. Gordon is a member of the International Double Reed Society and AFM Local 294.
