Daniel M. Heslink has been a faculty member at Millersville University since 1983. He serves the university as director of percussion studies, director of the Wind Ensemble, and formerly as chair of the music department and as acting associate dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a bachelor of music education degree from S.U.N.Y./ Fredonio, a master of music in percussion performance from S.U.N. Y./Fredonia and Ithaca College, and a doctor of music in percussion pedagogy and performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Heslink has been active in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association as a clinician and as chair of multicultural music for the PMEA executive board. His activities include many performances, adjudications, and guest appearances as a conductor, and his publications include many recital pieces and works for collegiate percussion ensembles. Dr. Heslink is creator and project director for Music As a Vehicle for Success, a grant-funded summer institute for musically gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Audiences also know Dr. Heslink as director of the Lancaster Marimba Ensemble, an organization of professional musicians dedicated to the continuation of live marimba performance.
