MU JAZZ BANDS AUDITIONS Fall 2006

All auditions will be held in Room D in Alumni Hall Basement

Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Ensemble performs music representing a wide variety of jazz styles in both
the big band and combo settings. Maintaining an active schedule, the Jazz Ensemble performs both on and
off-campus several times each semester, including concert and dance venues. Guest artists, who appear
regularly with the band as part of regular semester concerts, a regional tour, and the MU Jazz Band
Workshop, have included Mike Vax, Ronald Carter, Tom Shabda Noor, Byron Stripling, Sherrie Maricle, Chris
Vadala, John Fedchock, and Ernie Watts. Membership is open to all students by audition at the beginning of
each academic year.
Rehearsals: Thursdays, 7:00-9:30 p.m.
Jazz Seminar: Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Lab Band provides students with means to develop jazz style reading skills
and basic improvisational practices in the big band format. The JLB appears on all semester concerts and
dance events held on campus. Membership is open to all students each semester.
Rehearsals: Fridays, 3:00-4:45 p.m.
Jazz Seminar: Tuesdays, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
