Music Business & Technologies

The MB&T program has two related, yet distinctly separate tracks under the umbrella heading of Music Business and Technologies.

Music Industry

The first, Music Industry is defined by an interest in pursuing business endeavors in the commercial/popular sector. Students enrolled in the Music Industry Studies Track would pursue careers in Artist Management, Record Production, Tour Management, Sound Recording, etc., and develop skills in contract negotiation, interpretation of copyright law and licensing agreements, concert promotion, and recording, mixing, and producing.

Arts Administration

The second, Arts Administration is defined by an interest in pursuing business endeavors in the arts sector. Students enrolled in the Arts Administration Track would pursue careers in orchestra/opera management, arts educational outreach, development, etc., and develop skills in grant proposal writing, events planning, fundraising, and strategic planning. With these proposed curricular changes students completing the Arts Administration Track within the Music Business and Technologies Program will earn a minor in General Business.
