Janine Thomas received her bachelor of science degree in music education, magna cum laude, from Millersville University, where she currently serves as a part-time instructor of clarinet. Janine is the principal clarinetist for the Harrisburg, Reading, and Lancaster symphonies, as well as the OperaLancaster orchestra. She is the first-call substitute of B-flat and E-flat clarinets for the Delaware Symphony and also first-call substitute for the Opera Delaware orchestra. In addition, she doubles on piccolo, flute, alto flute, bass clarinet, and soprano, alto and tenor saxophones for shows at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre and the Fulton Opera House.
Ms. Thomas has appeared in concert as a soloist performing Mendelssohnfs Concertpiece No. 1 and Mozartfs Sinfonia Concertante with the Lancaster Symphony, as well as Debussyfs Premiere Rhapsodie and Coplandfs Clarinet Concerto with the Harrisburg Symphony. She has also performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, and the Ravel Introduction and Allegro with the Ying Quartet as a part of the Market Square Concert Series. In addition, Janine has served as an accompanist for various recitals over the past 28 years, including many faculty and student recitals at Millersville University. She maintains a private studio at Lancaster Catholic High School.
