The Millersville University Police Department is comprised of a diverse and dedicated group of men and women. While they are qualified to work for other law enforcement agencies in PA, they have chosen to work here at Millersville University. Many officers of the department have extensive training in a chosen specialty field, such as Sexual Assault, Bombs and Explosives, Computer Crimes, Defensive Tactics, and Identification Composites as well as well as more routine areas of Law Enforcement, investigating some 1,200 reported incidents each year as well as answering over 18,000 service calls annually.
The Millersville University Police Department is directed by Police Chief Wayne W. Silcox and receives its authority, jurisdiction and police powers through Commonwealth of PA legislation, including PA Code Title 71, PA Administrative Code Section 2416, 42 PA.C.S. relating to municipal police, and Act 48.
As other police departments, the Millersville University Police Department answers to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office for matters of law and criminal prosecutions. Millersville University is proud to have such an expert police department in its Student Affairs Division.
