Employment and Credentialing Rates

Employment:

Students are encouraged to begin seeking a position three months prior to graduation. Never has a graduate of this program been unsuccessful in securing employment following graduation. Often they have several offers from which to choose.

Our last class that graduated reported that their anticipated first-year earnings ranged from $40,609 to $55,300 with a mean salary of $49,535 (the current sign-on bonuses range from $3,000 - $15,000 on top of that).

Credentialing Exams:

There are two exams for respiratory care practitioners. The first is the Entry Level Exam (CRT), which is taken within a few days of graduation. A respiratory therapist attends to the tracheostomy dressing in this trauma victim. Graduates of all programs take this exam, which also serves as the state-licensing exam. Although the national first time pass rate is 79 %, it is a very rare occurrence for a MU graduate not to pass.

The Advanced Practitioner Exam (RRT) is taken by graduates from advanced-level programs that have successfully completed the CRT Exam. This two-part exam is passed by approximately 44% of first-time candidates nationally. Sixty-five to 100% of Millersville University graduates have passed this exam on their first attempt depending on the year and those who failed their first attempt have gone on to pass it on their next attempt. This credentialing success rate is among the highest in the country.
