SafetyNET hours are 8am - 9pm, Monday thru Thursday and 8am - 5pm on Friday. Computers can still be dropped off at the help desk during their hours of operation: M-F 7am - 11pm, Sun. 3pm - 11pm.
Many people use desktop systems, however, a growing number are finding that a laptop meets their computing needs. If you purchase a new system, base your purchase decision on your lifestyle and the demands of your academic program. The laptop may be attractive to for its mobility. On the other hand, if you think you will do a lot of typing or if screen resolution is important, for example in graphic design, a desktop system may be more appropriate. Also, desktop systems are more easily upgraded, less likely to be dropped and less vulnerable to theft. Replacement parts for desktops are less expensive than laptop replacement parts. You may also need to think about long term investment. If you want a mouse and keyboard, with desktops these accessories are included with the purchase of the system, however with laptops, you may need to purchase these items in addition to the purchase of the system.
