4:30 TALK:
"The
Ehresmann Connection Related to Orbit Stratification
in Compact
Semi-Simple Lie Algebras"
ABSTRACT: The goal of the work
described in this talk is to find a natural geometric object that carries the
Poisson cohomology of a Poisson manifold.
The Lie algebra of a compact semi-simple Lie algebra is a Poisson
manifold, once we use the Killing form to identify it with its dual.
We give several descriptions of natural Whitney
stratifications on a compact semi-simple Lie algebra and prove their
equivalence. We define and study a
canonical connection, transverse and complementary to the distribution defined
by the orbits of the adjoint representation.
We discuss integrability, holonomy and curvature properties for this
connection.
EVERYONE
WELCOME.

ANNOUNCEMENT TO ANYONE INTERESTED.
The Triangle Geometry/Topology Seminar is sponsored jointly by Elizabethtown College, Franklin & Marshall College and Millersville University.
