William Brown - opened his home to many slaves along the Pilgrim's Pathway. He was proud he did so, and it came back to haunt him when the community found out he was doing so. A neighbor of William was Neddy Johnson. She was a former slave who assisted William in helping fugitive slaves escape.
Brown Family - Treated every slave they housed well. THey provided food and clothing and places to rest.
Slaves in Brown's Home - Brown housed two famous slaves, John and Mary. They were a married couple with a young child.
Brown's Neighbors - They disapproved that William helped fugitive slaves escape to Canada. When the found out they told John and Mary's slave master about there where-abouts.
- Neighboring Neddy Johnson formed a group to help John and Mary escape the arrest. Johnson was successfull and sent John and Mary on their way to Canada.
