The Baptist denomination was prominent in the early settlement. Three Baptist churches served the community. The North Buxton First Baptist Church was built in 1883 as a result of the amalgamation of the existing Baptist Churches. This church was closed May 2000 and the building is now maintained by the Buxton Historical Society.
