Star Campbell, MS, Med, RD, LDN and contractor

to the PA Department of Education

Determine the economic and nutritional value of commercial sports drinks and protein powders, shakes and bars as well as convenience foods in meeting the nutritional needs of athletes and other students by using tools such as scatterplots and whisker plots.  Use an allometric equation to scale Barbie, Ken and Mad Max and compare the results to actual adult measurements and then discuss the implications in regards to body image.  Conduct a z-test to determine the foods in which there has been a significant change in consumption by teenagers over the past decade and discuss the implications in regards to increasing weights in school children.  The lessons demonstrated in the workshop come from a packet which will be given to each school district represented.

The workshop will be held
April 13, 2004 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM
In Room 109 of Wickersham Hall,
