Participants in this workshop will engage in explorations modeling the use of tangrams as tools for mathematical reasoning in elementary classrooms. The benefits and challenges of using tangrams in mathematics classes will also be discussed.

Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation

Patricia has been a mathematics teacher for fifteen years, teaching students from kindergarten through high school, in both regular and special education. She has earned her BSE in mathematics from Penn State University, her Master’s Degree in Elementary education, and a Pennsylvania Professional Certificate as a K-12 mathematics supervisor from Millersville. Patricia has been an active member of Millersville’s CETP-PA team for two years, presenting her work with tangrams at CETP-PA’s 2003 summer conference. Currently, Patricia is a 4th grade teacher at Stewartstown Elementary School, Fawn Grove, PA.
