Dr. Alex Rohrer '15

Adjunct Instructor, Wilmington University
Quick-witted. Responsive. Resourceful.

“My favorite courses at Millersville University were my special topics courses in sociology, taught by Professor Stackhouse. Professor Stackhouse brought energy and enthusiasm to the classroom each and every day. She flawlessly and synergistically combined her real-world experience as a Pennsylvania State Trooper with textbook/academic knowledge to create an awesome learning environment and experience for all students. She also was someone who made sure you heard positive feedback when you did a good job, which helped boost my motivation and confidence. ”

How did Millersville University help you get to where you are today?
Millersville University was my first home away from home. I immediately felt welcomed there from the day I first toured the campus while a senior in high school. This connection to the campus inspired me to seek out opportunities to grow beyond the classroom. I became involved in clubs such as student senate, as well as became employed as a resident assistant (RA) and admissions campus ambassador. It is through those employment opportunities I developed skills related to leadership, collaborative teamwork, and problem-solving. These skills, in addition to my degree, have been foundational in all I have completed and worked toward since. I still, to this day, reference my work as an RA as a core component of my professional identity. Each year presented its own challenges and accompanying chances for growth. Additionally, because of the experience I had as a student in the classroom, I have a desire to one day become a professor and recreate that experience for future students. Lastly, the classroom skills and knowledge obtained through my tenure at Millersville University repeatedly supported my success in my graduate and doctoral programs.
