Workshops And Events

Workshops and Events

Throughout the year the Office of International Programs & Services offers workshops and events for international students, scholars and the campus community. Our aim is to provide services and support that both educate and assist our audience. Workshops and events are open to all students free of charge.

In addition, we also organize social and cultural activities for international students throughout the year. Students can participate in these activities for free or for a nominal fee.

International students and scholars are informed about workshops and events through the International Student News "ISN" email, sent weekly. If you do not currently receive the ISN but would like to, please email International@Millersville.edu

Student Success Breakfast

The Office of International Programs & Services is invested in your academic and social success at Millersville University! Each semester we host the Student Success Breakfast event that highlights many of the helpful services on campus from academic advising, tutoring, and counseling services. International staff are on hand to answer questions and help new students navigate through their MU accounts, learn how to purchase books, and much more!

Curricular Practical Training (CPT) & Optional Practical Training (OPT)

Each semester students have the opportunity learn about employment opportunities related to their field of study by attending a CPT/OPT Employment Workshop. The workshop outlines the differences between CPT and OPT, when students are eligible to apply, and how to apply.

Tax Workshop

Every spring the Office of International Programs & Services provides a free tax workshop for students. A professional tax consultant answers student questions and assists students with filing taxes. This workshop is essential for everyone, not only those who worked during the previous year.

All international students must complete a tax form, even if you did not work while in the U.S.

International Education Week (IEW)

The IEW week held every fall semester is an opportunity for colleges and universities to celebrate international education and exchange. This week is a joint initiative between the Department of State and Department of Education. The Office of International Programs & Services, in collaboration with other departments at Millersville, hosts international film festival, intergroup dialogues, open houses and a student-run Multicultural Showcase. For more information regarding IEW, visit State Department's IEW Website or Millersville's IEW webpage.

Celebration of International Education

Every April the Office of International Programs & Services brings together international students, study abroad participants, faculty, and staff to celebrate Millersville University’s internationalization activities. It is a wonderful evening to honor and acknowledge students and their accomplishments throughout the year. Activities include induction of honor society members, as well as student speakers.
