Employee Wellness Fair



Join the Employee Wellness Committee and representatives from various internal and external organizations as we tackle a wide array of topics within eight dimensions of wellness.

WHERE:  Student Memorial Center Reighard Multipurpose Room

WHO:     All currently employed faculty and staff members are encouraged to attend!

Emotional/Spiritual Wellness
  KPets (Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services) KPets promotes well-being by sharing the power of human/animal interactions.  Volunteers and their canines join the fair from 10am-1pm to "touch lives, warm hearts through human & animal interactions".
  Map of Meditation & Reflection Points of Interest on Campus Do you know the scenic areas on and around campus which invite contemplation and serenity?  We do!  Take a look at a map and photos so you can explore soon!
  McNairy Library Resource Share Take a peek at the boo-ountiful resources that await you in McNairy Library as Assistant Professor Stephanie Thompson shares self-care resources available.
  SEAP (State Employee Assistance Program, provided by OPTUM) Whether you want to talk about an issue, seek counseling, find legal resources, or get advice about a financial concern, SEAP is a free, confidential program to all State System employees; this includes everyone who lives in your house, as well as your parents, adult children, and siblings regardless of where they live.​  Learn more about services available to you and your loved ones!
 Environmental Wellness  
  ASSP Fire Safety Club Students from MU's own American Society of Safety Professionals Club will demonstrate proper use of a portable fire extinguisher using the BullsEye Digital Fire Extinguisher Simulator.  This training tool senses the user's location and aim and adjusts the simulated fire to represent impact on the fire.  Come try your hand at extinguishing the flame!
  Blue Rock Fire Rescue Did you know that Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Day and Christmas Eve?  Visit with Blue Rock Fire Rescue to discover holiday fire safety tips, and learn more about becoming a volunteer member of the department.
  MU Facilities Team To recycle, or not to recyle, THAT is the question!  Mindy Lefever and Kayla Rankin of Facilities will review MU's "Big Four" recycling approach to build your confidence on when to recyle and when to toss it in the trash.
Financial Wellness
  Fidelity Daniel McCarthy of Fidelity, one of PASSHE's tax sheltered annuity providers, will be available to answer general questions regarding Fidelity's services.
  PSECU Take a few minutes to meet MU's campus representative, Kristyne Schonhaut, and explore the many benefits - and resources - available with a PSECU partnership.
  TIAA Nigel Stearns of TIAA, one of PASSHE's tax sheltered annuity providers, will be available to answer general questions regarding TIAA's services.
Intellectual Wellness  
  Managing from the Inside Out Managing From The Inside Out is a values driven training program, led by Laura Schanz, that will equip Leaders and Managers with the expertise they need to perform at their maximum potential, create an environment where people thrive, and chart a course for your organization’s future success.  Materials from this program will be shared during the Wellness Fair.
Occupational Wellness  
  Office Ergonomics Witness "Albert Spinestein" demonstrate proper office ergonomics.  
Physical Wellness
  Blood Donation

Although blood donations will not be collected during this event (unless Dracula shows), Charles Connon of the Lancaster General Health Suburban Pavilion joins us to discuss local donation services.

  Breast Cancer Awareness

Tina Piascinski RTRM, mammography lead and breast care navigator for Women’s Imaging at Ephrata Cancer Center, will share visual aids useful in recognizing changes in the breast as well as perform breast cancer risk assessments, explain types of imaging, and assist with scheduling mammogram screenings.

Casandra Miller (that's Casandra with one "s", not 2!), our Employee Benefits Manager, will be on-site from 8am-11am to answer your benefit questions.


With 33 years of Highmark experience, Steve Bitner intends to share preventative health schedules and benefit coverage grids as well as introduce Well360 Motion, a virtual physical health program recently implemented by PASSHE.

  Homefields Farm

Homefields Care Farm is Lancaster County’s longest-running community-supported agriculture program and has created vocational and volunteer opportunities for hundreds of people who have different abilities or barriers to traditional employment. They've provided over 300 varieties of fresh fruit and vegetables to local families for over 20 years.

Emily E. Biever, MS, RD, LDN, CPT and clinical oncology dietitian for the Wellspan Ephrata Cancer Center and Wellspan Sechler Family Cancer Center, will focus our attention on reducing inflammation through nutrition to reduce the risk for cancer and other diseases.
