General Information
Dr. Hartmann is an Assistant Professor of Nursing. Prior to coming to Millersville University, Dr. Hartmann taught at Eastern Mennonite University at Lancaster where she was the Academic Director of Nursing and an Instructor. In addition, Dr. Hartmann academic history also includes Lancaster Institute for Health Education (PA College of Health Sciences) and Saint Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. Her clinical practice included Emergency Department Staff Nurse, Pre-Hospital Nurse, Educator, and Case Manager as well as Intensive Care Unit Staff. She has presented at the Eastern Nursing Research Society and American Association of Critical Care Nurses Spring Training event regarding Financial Competency in Nursing. Dr. Hartmann volunteers as the Chair of the Leadership Succession Committee for Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society for Nursing, Xi Chi Chapter and on the Scholarship Committee of Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania. In her community, Dr. Hartmann volunteers at Gifts that Give Hope: Lancaster County’s Alternative Gift Fair, on the Art Auction Committee of Friendship Heart Gallery, and at her church. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, Southcentral Pennsylvania Evidence-Based Practice Consortium, Eastern Nursing Research Society, and Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society for Nursing, Xi Chi Chapter.
Research Interests
Dr. Hartmann’s research interests include financial competency in nursing, the economic value of nursing practice, collaborative academic practice of DNP and PhD nurses, and teaching strategies in both face to face and online academic environments.
Professional Interests
Dr. Hartmann’s professional interests include Emergency nursing, innovation and entrepreneurship in nursing, financial competency in healthcare, trauma care, healthcare needs of individuals with disabilities, pediatric healthcare, public health, healthcare needs of those experiencing homelessness, veteran’s healthcare needs, environmental factors affecting health, and telehealth.
