The Reading & Language Arts Education supervisory certification program resides within Millersville's highly regarded Early, Middle & Exceptional Education department. The coursework and experiences incorporated in this program meet Pennsylvania Department of Education standards, and the University is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
Applicants to this post-master's supervisory program must possess a master’s degree from an accredited college (or be pursuing one concurrently), a reading specialist certification and five years of satisfactory teaching experience.
What Will You Learn?
The Reading & Language Arts Education supervisory certification program explores the foundations of reading and writing, disabilities and teaching methods. Students complement their studies with special education and leadership courses to prepare for a variety of settings, learners and responsibilities. Students who choose to pursue their certification through the Reading Specialist master's program will also progress through professional core studies courses about research methods, student psychology and education philosophies, and specialized required courses.
